Background:

Wired and proprietary field networks have been used to reduce energy consumption of modern-day buildings. They are however in lack of extensibility, integration and interoperability necessary for the adoption of the rapid advance of open computing system suitable for the optimal management of energy consumption of buildings. BuildFog is a newly advanced fog computing technology that offers the opportunity to develop an open IoT network infrastructure that renders a distributed multi-level control and optimization of energy savings in smart buildings.

The overall objective of this Croucher ASI is to bring together top researchers and practicing professionals to give inspiring lectures on the research frontiers of proprietary networks, fog computing and intelligent computational methods, and to explore their holistic integration for energy management of buildings in smart cities.
